In 2002, I spent unforgettable time in Qaanaaq in northern Greenland. Aided by hunters, we prepared the sled expedition Sirius 2000, and they willingly demonstrated their phenomental sled driving teckniques and superior handling of the strong and eagerdogs. Warmly and generously, we were invited into a hunting culture in which the dog and the sled still were the determining factors for the success of the hunt - as well as for transportation during the winter. It was exceedingly inspirational to experience a sled culture so deeply rooted in Greenland and compare it to the Sirius Patrol´s travelling technique utilized during our expedition round the north of Greenland.
